An online community for young writers and artists

Monthly Archives: June 2012

This free program just started but there are still open spots for the ArtWell HeartSpeak Series at the Lillian Marrero Branch of the Free Library (located at 6th and Lehigh). HeartSpeak is a ten part program series that meets Tuesdays at 2 p.m. and is presented by the ArtWell Center. The program uses art as a vehicle to engage teens in a conversation about violence and their vision of peace. The program series will utilize poetry, music, visual arts, media arts, and technology. Teens will learn to explore grief and loss; express the impact of violence; and share their dreams for peace and justice. HeartSpeak will empower teens to make wise choices that collectively impact their culture and community. For more information, call the Marrero branch at (215) 685-9794.

PS, Junior is launching its free summer writing workshop series at the Free Library of Philadelphia. Workshops will be held at the Tacony, Richmond, Chestnut Hill, and West Oak Lane branches. Stay tuned for more info!
