Divided into four age groups (Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-9, Grades 10-12). The contest’s purpose is to recognize and promote excellence in poetry writing for local students! Prizes will be given at a formal awards presentation by editors of PoetryWITS, Saturday, April 13th 2013, at Musehouse: A Center for the Literary Arts. Entry Rules: Three (3) poems. Any style, form, or length. All work to be original, published or unpublished, typewritten or word processed, one side only. DO NOT PLACE NAME OR ADDRESS ON POETRY PAGES. Attach Entry Form with paper clip to packet of poems. List titles of poems, your name, address, phone number and email address on opposite side of this page. If return of manuscript is desired, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. Entries will only be returned if mailed with a self-addressed stamped envelope. * Please do not send certified mail.

Deadline: Poems must be mailed to: MCPL Youth Poetry Contest, PO Box 441, Hatfield, PA 19440. The early deadline is Monday, January 28, 2013 (extended deadline tbd).

Notification: Winner will be notified by Sunday, March 31, 2013.

Entry Fee (optional): PoetryWTS will be accepting an optional donation of $5 (or more) for Hope Gardens, an eight-unit transitional housing for homeless adults and children in Ambler PA. Please make check payable to: Indian Valley Arts Foundation (list PoetryWITS in the memo). Include the check along w/ the entry form.

Awards: $50 First Place, $25 Second Place prizes given to the winner at a formal awards presentation by Editors of PoetryWITS, on Saturday, April 13th 2013, at Musehouse: A Center for the Literary Arts (7924 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia).

Judges: Award-winning poets from Montgomery and Bucks Counties
